To work, Steady keeps a few things in the app's private storage on your device. This data stays on your iPhone. We cannot see it, and the app does not send it anywhere.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The habit you're quitting: its name, icon, your reasons, your quit date and time, and daily cost if you add one | Shows your streak and money saved |
| Craving logs: date, strength (1 to 10), triggers you picked, the outcome, and how long it took | Builds your journal and insights |
| Daily check-ins (your mood, 1 to 5) and slips you log | Journal timeline and best streak |
| Milestones you have reached | Keeps your badges after a slip |
On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 or later), the coach uses Apple's on-device language model. It runs on your iPhone, and Steady never sends your messages to us or to any other service. On other iPhones, Steady uses a built-in coach with pre-written replies, which also works fully offline.
Coach conversations are kept in memory only while the coach screen is open. They are not saved. Steady saves only the craving summary listed above.
If something you type suggests you may be in danger, Steady shows a support screen with crisis contacts. This check happens on your iPhone, and nothing is reported to anyone.
Purchases and free trials are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether your subscription is active. Apple's handling of that information is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
If you turn on the daily check-in reminder, it is scheduled on your iPhone. No notification is sent from a server. You can turn reminders off in the iOS Settings app.
When you tap Share on a milestone, Steady makes an image showing the milestone and the habit name, and opens the standard iOS share sheet. Where it goes is your choice, and the app you share to has its own privacy policy. Nothing is shared unless you tap Share.
Steady has no cloud sync. If you back up your iPhone with iCloud Backup or a computer, Apple's backup may include Steady's data, just like other apps' data. That is set by your device settings, not by Steady.
In Steady, open Settings and tap Reset all data. That deletes your habit, streak, journal and history from the app. Deleting the app also removes all of its data from your iPhone.
Steady is not directed at children. Because Steady collects no personal information, it collects none from children either.
Steady is a wellness and habit-tracking tool. It is not a medical service and does not give medical advice. For health concerns or withdrawal symptoms, talk to a doctor or pharmacist. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988. Elsewhere, contact your local emergency services.
If Steady starts handling data differently, we will update this page and its effective date before the change ships in the app.
